You might have heard the word Matter thrown around lately and wondered what all the fuss is about. Here's the short version: Matter is the smart home standard that Apple, Google, Amazon and Samsung all agreed on. One common language for smart devices, instead of a different accent for every brand.
Why should you care? Because until now, our switches lived in the Tuya ecosystem. That's no bad thing — the Smart Life app is excellent, and it plays nicely with Google Home and Amazon Alexa. But if your house runs on Apple Home, you've been left looking through the window.
Not any more.
Our range now comes in Matter versions — the same crystal toughened-glass panels with LED backlighting, the same installation, the same price. The difference is what they'll talk to. Buy the Tuya version and it works with Smart Life, Google Home and Alexa, just like always. Buy the Matter version and it works with all of those plus Apple Home and Samsung SmartThings — and if you're the type running Home Assistant, Matter devices drop straight into that too.
Best of both worlds, really. If Smart Life is your thing, you can still add a Matter switch through the Tuya app and carry on as normal. If you've been waiting for a wall switch you can ask Siri about, this is it.
And before you ask — no, you don't need to buy a hub. Our Matter devices connect over your existing wifi, and the smart speaker or Apple TV you already own does the rest. Nothing extra on the shopping list.
Every product page now has a Connectivity option where you pick Tuya or Matter. When in doubt, go Matter — it costs nothing extra and keeps every door open.
As always, installation is a job for your licensed electrician. The decisions about which app runs your house, though — those are all yours.
